Biphasic plate
New plate design to improve fracture stabilization and healing is now in patients.
Fast, robust healing of long-bone fractures through confident weight bearing is the goal of the Biphasic Plating concept, a new solution devised by the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI) in Switzerland, and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia.
Thanks to the AO's innovation funding, in 2021 the plate obtained CE approval and as of May 2024 more than 80 plates have been used in European patients, while the FDA submission is in preparation.
