AO PEER Webinar—Research mentorship

This webinar presented by the AO Program for Education and Excellence in Research (AO PEER) discusses how to foster a good mentee-mentor relationship from the research project idea to publication. On an expert panel a research mentee and a research mentor discuss and reflect on their roles and provide a guide to what makes a good mentee-mentor relationship.

Vincenzo Giordano, MD, Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon, Hospital Municipal Miguel Couto, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil representing the mentor's perspective and Mike Mallow, a 4th year medical student at the Medical College of Georgia, USA shares his experience as mentee in the field of research. The webinar is moderated by Matthew Allen, Professor of Small Animal Surgery, Cambridge University, UK, and AO VET representative in the AO PEER taskforce.

• Recognize how research mentorship contributes to a successful research career
• Identify ways to find a mentor
• Manage expectations of the mentorship collaboration for both the mentee and the mentor
