Research fellowships
Research fellowship opportunities exist for physicians and researchers who wish to extend their experience within a research setting. Offered through the AO Innovation Translation Center (AO ITC) and the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI), the following fellowships offer two diverse learning experiences and are open to AO affiliated individuals.
AO ITC clinical research fellowship
Targeted to surgeons who are looking to gain experience in all phases of clinical research, this fellowship offers opportunities to learn study planning, monitoring, data analysis, and publication. Consisting of a three-month full-time placement at the AO ITC in Switzerland, fellows can learn about Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and gain competence using a statistics software package.
ARI medical research fellowship
Offered through the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI) in Switzerland, ARI fellowships provide motivated surgeons with on-site research training to gain experience in research and development projects focusing on clinically relevant problems. While not clinical in nature, with no patient interactions, this 12 month fellowship provides insight into how tangible research results are achieved.
