The Biomechanics and Modeling Focus Area utilizes integrated experimental and computational approaches towards optimal solutions addressing clinical questions on fracture fixation and joint reconstruction. The group's expertise includes advanced experimental biomechanical testing on human and animal bone specimens with customized setups, and computer-aided simulations supporting the design, optimization, and testing of existing and newly developed implants and endoprostheses on bone models. The team operates a state-of-the-art laboratory for professional processing and handling of anatomical specimens—an essential aspect in the development and testing of new implants and medical devices.
